Evaporative Echoes

Grant Stewart and Jeremy Roberts present Evaporative Echoes, an experimental music and light projection experience that explores the duality of evaporation. This piece invites you to engage with the delicate balance between nature’s cooling processes and the tumultuous storms they can unleash. We attempt to encapsulate the beauty and complexity of evaporation—its ability to sustain life and its role in the fierce storms, and climate change, that challenges living beings.

As you approach you are greeted by an ambient soundscape, blending the sounds of ocean waves with ethereal melodies. The composition evolves, reflecting the serene beauty of ocean cooling and cloud formation while hinting at the underlying tension of a warming planet. The music ebbs and flows, creating an auditory representation of moisture transforming into vapor, a gentle reminder of the life-giving properties of our atmosphere. Simultaneously, mesmerizing light projections dance across the walls, mimicking the transient nature of clouds drifting across the sky. The visuals are fluid and organic, shifting in hue and intensity, evoking the peaceful beauty of evaporation. However, as the installation progresses, darker shades and rapid movements emerge, symbolizing the power of heated, moist air to fuel tropical storms and create a more chaotic atmosphere.
