FlowILM is a free community art event focused through an art & technology lens on the relationships between human and non-human organisms and their ecosystems. This event features the living systems of the Cape Fear coastal region and the people that care about them. Collaborative, multi-media art, sound, film and performance can be experienced inside and outside the museum walls into the surrounding landscapes, where visitors are encouraged to meander and explore biologically and ecologically inspired work.
The fourth annual FlowILM event at the Cameron Art Museum will feature an array of artists, filmmakers, musicians, performers, writers, scientists, local non-profits and UNCW faculty & students with an interest in local / global water issues.
On Saturday, October 19th 2024, the first half of the event from 4:30 to 6:30pm will feature the missions and research of participating non-profits and University labs / departments in parallel with educational and family-oriented activities. Inside the Cameron Art Museum, throughout the event a series of environmentally focused short films will be screened in parallel with a new experimental music performance space.
For the second half of the event from 6:30 to 9pm there will be live, outdoor performance, dance, sculpture, installation, light and sound work on display.
This event is produced by the Coaction Lab at The University of North Carolina Wilmington and the Cameron Art Museum and sponsored by the UNCW Office for Applied Learning & High Impact Practices.
