FlowILM is a free community art event focused through an art & technology lens on the relationships between human and non-human organisms and their ecosystems. This event features the living systems of the Cape Fear coastal region and the people that care about them. Collaborative, multi-media art, sound, film  and performance can be experienced inside and outside the museum walls into the surrounding landscapes, where visitors are encouraged to meander and explore biologically and ecologically inspired work.

The fifth, biennial FlowILM event at the Cameron Art Museum featured an array of artists, filmmakers, musicians, performers, writers, scientists, local non-profits and UNCW faculty & students with an interest in local / global water issues. FlowILM will return to the Cameron Art Museum in October of 2026 in its new biennial format with deeper community collaborations and a wider range of creative work focused on our relationships with water and aquatic ecosystems.

This event is produced by the Coaction Lab at The University of North Carolina Wilmington and the Cameron Art Museum and sponsored by UNCW.
